RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
We are looking for a Research Assistant with experience in clinical research in pediatrics and child health. The Research Assistant will be involved in managing and conducting clinical research projects involving children and their families in the area of sleep medicine, sleep-related disorders and epidemiology. The projects will be conducted across several sites, including the Research Institute of the MUHC, the Montreal Children’s Hospital, and the community.

General Duties
Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and her research team, the Research Assistant is responsible for planning, organizing and conducting the research projects and monitoring study progress (70%). The Research Assistant is also responsible for data management, analysis, and knowledge translation (30%).

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in the planning and organization of research projects,
• Assist in writing study protocols,
• Manage the procedures with the Research Ethics Board and Contracts Office (e.g. protocol approvals, amendments, annual renewals, collaboration agreements),
• Organize research team meetings and maintain communications with project stakeholders,
• Recruit/consent research participants,
• Act as a liaison with clinical services and community partners,
• Collect participant data (e.g. organize study visits, administer questionnaires, review medical charts, conduct interviews),
• Monitor study progress to ensure completeness and accuracy of data collected,
• Manage databases and perform analysis,
• Search and review the literature,
• Manage supplies and equipment (orders, purchases and maintenance) for study operations,
• Assist in research synthesis, knowledge translation activities (including manuscript writing),
• Collaborate with physicians, clinicians, clinic staff and research team and community partners,
• Help oversee volunteers and trainees,


Education / Experience

Education: Master's Degree
Field of Study: Health science, clinical research, or epidemiology and statistics
RI-MUHC experience is considered an asset for this position
Work Experience: 12 to 24 months

Other requirements:

• Doctorate degree is an asset,
• Experience in clinical research or epidemiology is essential (e.g. recruiting and interviewing),
• Experience in sleep medicine or sleep disorders is an asset,
• Work experience at the RI-MUHC is an asset,
• Excellent English and French, spoken and written,
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills,
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask,
• Attention to detail and accuracy,
• Good analytical and logic skills,
• Ability to work independently and in teams with minimum supervision,
• Demonstrate diplomacy, discretion and good judgment,
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook),
• Knowledge of statistics and statistical packages (e.g. SPSS, SAS, Stata),
• Knowledge of data management (e.g. REDCap),
