Research Assistant - Qualitative Study on Migrant and Refugee Women’s Health

This position is within the College of Nursing, where researchers are working hard to create equitable and sustainable solutions to improve health experiences and outcomes for individuals, families, and communities provincially, nationally, and internationally.


Primary Purpose:

In the appointment of Research Assistant, your general duties and responsibilities will be to support the directives for the research project: Influences of Gender and Religion on Muslim Refugee Women's Perspectives on Breast Awareness.

Nature of the work:

Your general location of work will at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon campus, and you will report to Dr. Louise Racine.

Required Number of Hours: 15 hours per week
Duration of Employment: January 30, 2024 – December 31, 2024

Qualifications (Skills and Abilities):

  • Strong analytical, writing, and time management skills,
  • Ability to speak Arabic fluently is a requirement to collect data
  • Knowledge of Muslim culture,
  • Good listening skills and critical thinking,
  • Interest and experience in qualitative research processes,
  • Effect communication and organizational skills,
  • Interview and focus group experience is an asset,
  • Strong academic writing skills.

Experience:

  • Good academic standing,
  • Experience using qualitative methods,
  • Previous involvement in focus group and interview data collection,
  • Fluent using NVivo and other qualitative data analysis tools,
  • Experience working as part of a research team and with vulnerable populations will be considered an asset.

Education:

B.Sc. degree in Nursing, Health Science-related field, Women and Gender Studies or other related area. Current graduate student; preferred College of Nursing graduate student but will consider related health science fields (i.e. Pharmacy and Nutrition, Public Health, Community Health and Epidemiology etc.)
