Primary Responsibilities


Plans, organizes, and conducts highly independent research upon approval of the principal investigator; designs, tests, and evaluates methods and protocol for research projects; analyzes, summarizes, and organizes collected data; prepares grant proposals together with the principal investigator, generally publishes results of investigations in professional journals.  Purchase and/or recommend the purchase of new equipment for research projects; under the direction of the principal investigator, generally responsible for the scientific operations of the laboratory; supervises laboratory/unit personnel


 


Education/Experience


MSc or Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Cell Biology/Physics/Chemistry or related fields


 


Other Qualifying Skills & Abilities


The ideal candidate has experience with protein purification and biochemistry, and/or microscopy (TIRF, superresolution) as well as image analysis.


Skills in python or MATLAB, microscope construction, and 3D printing would be an asset.
