Position Summary:

This appointment is for a talented Research Assistant in the McGill containment level 3 platform to help lead research studies on host-pathogen interactions using cell and animal models of SARS-CoV-2.

Despite the astounding scientific advances that have brought multiple vaccines to the world in record time, the circulation of variants of SARS-CoV-2 with increased transmissibility, pathogenicity, and/or immune system resistance pose imminent threats to public health on a global scale. Public health decisions, medicine, and policies must be based on science-based evaluations of the biological features of emerging variants of concern. Experimentation in model cells and animals in the required Containment Level 3 environment is crucial to the study of these variants, and thus is a global research priority to which the McGill and Canadian research community are responding with ever increased activity.
