Department of Chemistry (Professor Hanadi Sleiman)


Position Summary:

  • Conduct research on the synthesis and selection of nucleic acids that specifically bind to cancer proteins (aptamers).
  • Train and closely supervise graduate and undergraduate students
  • Manage daily lab activities
  • Assist in grant and manuscript writing
  • Oversee equipment purchasing and installation until functional
  • Assist with finalizing the CFI award
  • Prepare tenders
  • Obtain, and compare quotes, coordinate installation and student training, and maintain the equipment in working order.

Qualifications:

  • Applicant must have significant experience as a lab leader and mentoring junior researchers.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written. 
  • Strong work ethic.

   

Experience and education:

  • PhD in Chemistry with at least one year of industrial experience
  • Strong expertise in oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, characterization, and nucleic acid nanotechnology.
  • Strong expertise in molecular biology techniques (PCR, DNA enzymes, cloning, etc.)
  • Strong expertise with the following instruments: dynamic light scattering, atomic force microscopy, electron microscopy, circular dichroism, and differential scanning calorimetry.
  • Knowledge of cell culture techniques.
