Department of Psychology

Position Summary:

  • Execute animal behavior experiments including social defeat, social interaction testing, open field test and operant reward-based decision making tasks to probe the effects of neural activity and genetic manipulations

  • Conduct histology including perfusion and removal of brains, sectioning of brain tissue, immune staining, imaging with microscope and counting

  • Stereotaxic surgery in mice to inject viral constructs

  • Perform data analysis using pre-generated templates

  • Write summaries of key findings and communicate results of experiments to supervisor and the broader team

Qualifications:

  • The employee is required to have experience with animal handling and behavioral protocols.

  • Conducting behavioral experiments without full-time supervision is an asset.

  • Being acquainted with histology and wetlab techniques is essential.

  • MSc in Neuroscience of Psychology or equivalent Research experience (2 years), in the field of neuroscience or psychology.

  • Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 3 (qualifier) on a scale of 0-4.
