Centre for Newfoundland Studies
The Centre for Newfoundland Studies, located in the Queen Elizabeth II Library, is a research library with a mandate to collect published materials in all areas relating to Newfoundland and Labrador. It is a closed stack collection consisting of monographs, microforms, government documents, periodicals, maps, rare books and an extensive vertical file collection. It provides reference service to the faculty and students of Memorial University, to visiting scholars and to the public, both in-person and virtually with a worldwide reach. It has a special responsibility for bibliography projects and development and maintenance of reference tools that contribute to scholarship in the field of Newfoundland and Labrador Studies.

Position Description
CNS is seeking a creative, out-going, user-centered and initiative-driven librarian who can work in an environment with a diverse clientele and a wide-ranging, multi-disciplinary array of requests concerning Newfoundland and Labrador topics.
The successful candidate will provide the following duties: reference services to undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and the public; the design and delivery of information literacy instruction both in-person and virtually for diverse audiences; collection development, particularly in the areas of government documents, e-resources, music and film; subject analysis and creation of annotations for article citations in the Periodical Article Bibliography ; oversight of CNS web pages; and engagement and outreach activities with community groups. The successful candidate will participate in academic service through committee work within the library system, university-wide committees and/or community service related to their areas of expertise. The successful candidate will engage in scholarly activities such as research, scholarship and/or creative pursuits. On occasion, they will act as delegate for the Head of the Centre.

Qualifications
An ALA-accredited graduate degree is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and a demonstrated ability to deliver a high-level of customer service are essential. An academic degree or significant experience in an area relevant to the work in CNS is a definite asset. Experience with library public service duties and information literacy is desirable.

Salary
An appointment at the rank of Librarian I or Librarian II is anticipated. Salary is based on experience and qualifications. The salary floors for a Librarian I and II are $64,018 and $73,286 respectively, as of September 1, 2023.
