Position Summary:
Under the minimal direction of the Executive Director, Student Services (EDSS), execute and manage multiple projects from conceptualization to implementation. Establish objectives and plan implementation of projects within Student Services.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop a framework/system, including processes and procedures, for the approval, management and tracking of pan-Student Services projects.
  • Ensure processes in place are optimal, ensure projects align with the University activities (i.e. budgets requests, financial year, etc.) constantly improving the process, debriefing, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage the intersection of pan-Student Services projects. Facilitate a collaborative approach with project leads to ensure that all units work collaboratively and cohesively.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between pan-Student Services projects.
  • Participate in establishing the direction of the project; once set, directs and leads project. Challenge work that is not directly related to the critical path. Negotiate approval of the project plan(s) with the EDSS.
  • Keep EDSS informed of key developments, program decisions, issues and changes to the project and/or the project plan. Ensure timely reporting by project leads.
  • Manage and organize the strategic planning work of the Office of Student Services (OSS) – EDSS; Operations; Communications; Equity Diversity and Inclusion; and Assessment and Evaluation - to provide subject matter expertise to S2 projects, including coordinating meetings and publishing agendas.
  • Participate in the development of communication plans. Disseminate plans to stakeholders and other members of the McGill community.
  • Develop and monitor an integrated accountability framework that includes student feedback mechanisms, advisory boards, CSS, and annual reporting.
  • Develop tracking system and oversee the collection, compilation and analysis of project-related data in relation to the EDSS Office. Compile, synthesize, conceptualize and manage information generated throughout consultation, working groups and project activities. Generate reports and action items. Periodically review data collected and ensure that it meets the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Draft reports and responses on behalf of the EDSS.


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

PMP certification an asset.  Strong analytical background and project planning skills. Content and project management expertise is essential.  Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team with the ability to follow through with minimal direction.  Experience in training and coaching staff.  Proven change management, team building and problem-solving skills.  High degree of flexibility and organization to administer multiple initiatives simultaneously, with the ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines.  Demonstrated ability to achieve long- and short-term goals.  Excellent interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills.  Must be detailed-oriented with a proven ability to manage, integrate, effectively communicate, update and document constantly changing information.  Strong presentation and facilitation skills, an asset.  Strong customer service focus and ability to give direction and assistance to clients.  Process mapping experience is an asset.  Communications planning experience is an asset.  Strong computer literacy with all Microsoft Office tools, MINERVA and Banner systems.  Exceptional English writing skills, a very strong asset.  English and French, spoken and written.

(MPEX Grade 04) $57,330.00 - $85,990.00
