This competition will be used to fill a casual hourly-paid position 14 hours per week and a casual hourly-paid position 35 hour per week. Of the two, please indicate your work week interest in your application. The end date is July 31, 2022.

The School of Dentistry – Continuing Dental Education (CDE) would like to invite interested applicants (Registered Dental Assistants and other clinical and project management specialists) to submit their cover letter and resumes to these Program Coordinator opportunities. The Coordinator contributes to the development and management of programs and initiatives of the CDE unit and performs duties utilizing their acquired curriculum knowledge, course material review and approval, and operational resource competency. The Coordinator assists in developing/implementing CDE’s list of programs, contributes to the strategic/operational delivery, and clinical expertise and support to the unit, all the while building relationships and making decisions with, and for, our internal and external stakeholders. A vital capability for success in this role is the ability to creatively transfer your clinical skills to inform and support program delivery in an office environment. A sample of the programs you may be involved with include, but are not limited to, IV Sedation, Nitrous, Airway, and/or Implant Residency. 

Duties:

  • The development and management of programs and special projects

  • Working collaboratively with the CDE unit to plan, execute, and monitor a variety of projects throughout their lifecycle to ensure that they are completed on budget and on schedule

  • Liaising with cross-functional project stakeholders to collect requirements and maintain effective communication

  • Preparing required documentation and ensures process improvement and efficiency with regards to programs

  • Reviewing course material and lectures provided by instructors

  • Hiring instructors and staff involved in programs

  • Acts as the primary operational contact/resource for designated programs

  • Developing  and implements dental programs

  • Providing direct strategic and operational support to the Business Lead and CDE Unit.

  • Developing and maintains relationships with key contacts within the provincial regulatory associations

  • Performing specialized research and analysis in areas of strategic interest to the Continuing Dental Education department; gathers, analyzes and communicates information of relevance

  • Stays informed on association guideline changes, policies and procedures

  • Reviewing reports to identify outstanding data or enrollment issues which require follow-up 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Dental Assisting (RDA), Dental Hygienist (RDH), or Project management is required
  • An RDA/RDH designation OR Project Management experience is an asset

  • Knowledge and understanding of key University of Alberta Continuing Dental Education documents, policies, procedures and operating requirements is preferred

  • Software - Proficient in (or ability to quickly learn) Microsoft Suite products and applications (especially MS Teams, Project and Excel), remote learning products (ex. e-class), and patient management software (ie. Axium)

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects within cross-functional teams, possessing strong organizational skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills

  • Well-developed relationship building and networking skills

  • Strong ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
