Position Summary:
The candidate will perform research on the influence of atom position in the structure and distribution of phase present to facilitate their shaping by AM techniques. Among those but not restricted to are: calculation of stacking fault energy, DFT analysis of crystal structure, etc. You will also structure protocols for the proper acquisition and analysis of data from beam scattering techniques. The incumbent will be expected to take over papers that are in progress and bring to conclusion. Preparing new papers using the analysis gained for the characterization techniques. Assisting in writing grants and grant reports. Mentoring students. Participating in workshops and industrial meetings will also be tasks of this position.

Qualifications:

Preference will be given to Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents.

PhD in Materials Science/Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Physics or a connex field.

Extensive experience of beam diffraction techniques for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of diffraction patterns (ex: XPS, ARPES, neutron diffraction, X-ray diffraction).

Other Qualifying Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrate high quality writing skills by the authorship of high-quality papers in high impact factor journals.

Demonstrate past mentorship of graduate students.

Involvement in professional societies related to the field.
