Position Summary:

The Gervais group at the McGill Department of Physics has one (possibly two) postdoctoral position available immediately to study non-Abelian quantum statistics and fabricate a topological qubit, and/or study the connections between black hole physics and fluid mechanics.

The applicant should have a Ph.D. degree obtained no more than five years ago but ideally less than three years in one of the following areas: experimental condensed matter physics, applied physics, electrical/device engineering or any other related disciplines deemed relevant.  We are looking for a highly self-motivated candidate with a strongly “hands-on” attitude. The candidate should be very motivated to design/build new instrumentations and be interested in working in a highly multidisciplinary environment. 

Salary: $38,000 per year


Qualifications:
Experience in any of the following areas will be considered strong assets: (1) device fabrication in a clean room (2) measurements at cryogenic temperatures and (3) extensive experience with high vacuum and UHV.
