This position has a start date of 1st July, 2023 and is within the Department of Pediatrics (www.pediatrics.ualberta.ca).
Description of Study: Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Pediatrics, to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal.
The appointee will have the opportunity to work with both local and national multi-disciplinary teams to enhance the health care outcomes of at-risk infants. The appointee will be involved in the research activities related to the Canadian Neonatal Network (CNN), Evidence-based Practice Quality Improvement (EPIQ), and other provincial & national databases. These studies are currently funded through two CIHR grants, as well as other provincial/ local research funding.
Training will be provided on advanced methods in various areas such as epidemiology, data analysis, as well as clinical infectious diseases. The post provides an excellent opportunity for professional growth and working with a diverse and dynamic team. Location: Employment will be primary in-person at the Department of Pediatrics in ECHA, at North Campus Edmonton and/or hybrid.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, coordinate and execute research project work plans and timelines.
- Conduct literature review.
- Write research grant proposals to secure funding for additional projects under supervision.
- Assist with the ongoing growth and development of the projects.
- Prepare and submit conference abstracts and manuscripts under supervision.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
This is a full-time position (contingent on performance) available for a period of 1 year, with a possibility of renewal (subject to secure funding). Salary and benefits will be commensurate with University of Alberta standards.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in public health, biostatistics, data science or a related field, OR a M.D degree. They should have knowledge of epidemiology and/or paediatrics, excellent quantitative and analytic skills, strong communication and writing skills. They should be detail-oriented, able to work independently and/or in a team environment. Experience in the management of large data sets and complex analyses using R, SAS or other statistical tools will be an advantage.
Salary:
The annual stipend offered will be consistent with those of other national agencies (CIHR, HSF of Canada) and may be renewable for up to 4 years, depending on funding and performance.
This is a full-time, grant-funded position for a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. The minimum salary begins at $53,000/annum + benefits and is to commensurate with experience and qualifications.
