Job Description

RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
This is a one-year, full-time position with the possibility for renewal pending available funds and agreement. The fellow, under the supervision of Dr. Jonathon Campbell and Dr. Dick Menzies, will be part of a research team evaluating the economic burden of respiratory illnesses and conducting infectious disease modelling and economic evaluation related to tuberculosis. The fellow will have the opportunity to develop and lead research projects and will be supported in the preparation of grant and fellowship applications. The expected start date is flexible but is expected to be July 1, 2023.

General Duties
• Lead and participate in research projects,
• Contribute to the development of ethics applications and data collection,
• Review and evaluate research findings, analyse results, prepare reports, dissemination materials, and manuscripts,
• Present research at national and international conferences,
• Contribute to the scientific and intellectual content of projects and research grant applications,
• Participate in teaching activities,

Education / Experience

• Education: have a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in epidemiology, public health, global health, health economics, or a related discipline, which was completed within the last 4 years,
• Knowledge and experience in infectious diseases and/or cost assessment and economic evaluation,
• Knowledge and experience of tuberculosis is an asset,
• Attention to detail and accuracy,
• Self-directed and organized,
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team,
• Excellent interpersonal skills,
• Experience in statistical programming (eg, R),
• Experience with standardized software for decision analysis (eg, TreeAge) is an asset,
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English,
• Competency in French is an asset,


Additional information

Status: Temporary full-time - 5 days a week, one-year contract, starting July 1, 2023
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Mondays to Fridays
