SAIT’s Continuing Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) focuses on non-credit programs supporting corporate training, the individual learner and international projects. We create courses and programs for life-long learning with careers at our core. Our courses range from exploring general interests to up-skilling for career advancement and reskilling for career changes. We complete all background activities required to set up our products for students to purchase and experience several delivery options.
The Opportunity
The Centre for Continuing Education and Professional studies is launching a podcast that will create a narrative from trusted source(s) to increase awareness of emerging roles in the Alberta landscape, clarify the opportunities associated with the roles, and demystify accessible learning pathways. Reporting to the Manager, Digital Programs the Technical Engineer is excited to start something new, be part of a dynamic team, wants to produce a high quality experience, and is interested in learning and evolving.
The Technical Engineer is responsible for all recorded and acquired audio for the podcast. The Technical Engineer will execute, manage, and organize the recording of episodes and other audio in the compilation of all audio into the final podcast episode. The Technical Engineer will work in collaboration with the Producer to plan recording sessions with the host(s) as well as in-studio and/or external guests as required. The Technical Engineer will also work with the Podcast Producer and SAIT’s marketing team to create assets for distribution on social media and other promotional portals.
The Role
    • Align to the creative vision of the podcast
    • Work collaboratively with the podcast team
    • Coordinate tasks with team members
    • Generate enhanced content and promotional opportunities
    • Maintaining a shared repository of assets
    • Work with the marketing team to align podcast assets and episodes to the SAIT brand
    • Technical creation of episodes
    • Setup and use of studio equipment
    • Recording, editing of all episodes
    • Catalog and organized all audio workparts
    • Finalize episodes for publication and distribution
    • Adherence to timelines and schedule
    • Provide assets (sound clips, excerpts, synopses etc.) for promotional purposes

Qualifications
    • Minimum
    • 1 year experience in producing a podcast or similar
    • Understanding of podcast distribution channels
    • Understanding of podcasting
    • Strong editing skills (audio)
    • Competent understanding of studio recording equipment and DAW software
    • Experience working with a cross functional team
    • Experience working with a number of industry professionals
    • Preferred
    • Diploma in Radio, Television and Broadcast News
    • Skills Required
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Leadership in collaborative environments
    • Ability to schedule strategically to maximize efficient use of resources
    • Ability to work within deadlines
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Effective communication and planning
