Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the Partnership Research Advisor is to build and manage research partnerships with external stakeholders from many sectors. They will carry out business development and networking activities to promote research in the Faculty to foster partnered R&D initiatives, as well as support faculty-wide research collaborations to achieve strategic objectives. In addition, the Partnership Research Advisor will assist the research facilitation team to seek and identify funding opportunities, analyze funding criteria and devise success strategies, coordinate efforts to develop partnerships, and provide advice and guidance to researchers in the completion of research applications.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
▪ Knowledge of research and sector trends
▪ Knowledge of business development, project management, and industry partnerships
▪ Knowledge of research funding application policies, procedures, and processes
▪ Knowledge of relevant governing legislation, policies, and procedures
▪ Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions
▪ Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
▪ Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity in a business context
▪ Familiarity with industries in Ottawa, Eastern Ontario, and Western Quebec
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
▪ Doctoral degree in a STEM discipline
▪ Minimum of three years of previous research and funding application experience and business development

This position is regularly required to work on campus. Due to the ongoing dynamic nature of Covid-19, you may be required to work temporarily remotely due to public health requirements. You are required to follow all directives to set up a safe and confidential workspace in a remote location and ensure all Carleton property (intellectual and other) is safeguarded. If required to work remotely, you will be notified by your manager when working full time physically onsite will resume.
