Job Title: Outreach Assistant – Office Assistant A

 

Reports to: Associate Librarian

 

Hour of work: 20 hours

 

Hourly Rate: $15.85

 

Classification: AMUSE A 

Duration: May – August 31, 2024

 

Job Summary:

 

To assist in the planning and development of outreach and engagement activities provided by the Humanities and Social Sciences Library, with specific emphasis on planning for Fall Orientation. 

 

Position Description: Under the supervision of the Outreach and Engagement Coordinator at the Humanities and Social Sciences Library and Liaison Librarians, the Outreach Assistant will aide in the development of our virtual and physical promotional materials for Fall Orientation, summer book displays, writing for our blog (the McLennan Post), and other activities provided to McGill students, faculty, and other users of the McGill Library. 

 

Duties:

 

  • Create promotion and communications materials for Fall Orientation to be shared with the McGill community. 

  • Design layouts and digital spaces for the virtual Redpath Book Display.  

  • Update and innovate online guides created for Outreach and Engagement. 

  • Develop other online or in-person engagement opportunities as needed. 

 

 

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

 

  • Student is currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at McGill University. 

  • Student is currently part of the Work Study program at McGill University. 

  • Public service or programming experience is an asset. 

  • Competence with web editing programs or graphic design is an asset. 

  • Reliability and flexibility to meet working hours. 

  • Effective communication and writing skills. Fluency in English and French languages is desired.  McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
