Postdoctoral Fellowship in Quantum Navigation
Two postdoctoral positions are available immediately in Professor Cory’s laboratory for the development of a quantum navigational device in collaboration with industry partners. This work will apply optimal control theory, including machine-learning algorithms and Bayesian estimation, to coherent control of nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond. The scientifically and technically challenging project will be carried out with a team of industry researchers to facilitate rapid development in technology readiness and real-world testing.
Applicants should have an advanced degree (PhD) in physics, applied mathematics, chemistry or electrical engineering, and should have a background in experimental quantum systems. Experience with magnetic resonance, Hamiltonian engineering, optimal control and machine learning are beneficial.
Successful applicants will join a thriving community of researchers at Transformative Quantum Technologies, a collaborative research initiative at the University of Waterloo and the Institute for Quantum Computing. Dedicated research facilities include state-of-the-art faculties for materials growth and characterization, a wide range of low-temperature and high field measurement systems, and special-purpose low-vibration quiet laboratories.
The appointment will be for two years with the possibility of renewal. The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience, ranging from $65,000 to $75,000 CAD. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
