Hiring Unit:
Department of Biology
Position Summary:

  • Receives and provides valuable graduate-related information to Biology graduate students and faculty via the handbook;

  • Compiles detailed yet concise information and adds to the handbook in an accessible manner;

  • Participates in committee meetings where new and official information may be disseminated (e.g General Assemblies);

  • Prepares, examines and verifies information provided in the handbook. For example, ensures all hyperlinks provided in the handbook are active and correct; ensures all deadlines are up to date; ensures all graduate milestones and expectations are correct, etc.;

  • Edits and maintains formatting of the handbook;

  • Checks for grammar and accuracy of wording;

  • Coordinates with the Web & Communication committee to ensure all information from the handbook is correctly transferred to the Department of Biology website;

  • Prepares, updates and summarizes any changes to the handbook before distribution.


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Experience in writing and editing in English;

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to multi-task;

  • Must be able to transmit and receive information accurately;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in student affairs;

  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and resourcefulness;

  • Demonstrated ability to work with word processing programs and databases.

Experience and education:

  • Must be a current or recent graduate student from the Department of Biology.

  • Must be approved in the Work Study Program at McGill University.


Minimum Education and Experience:


High School Diploma 2 Years Related Experience


Hourly Salary:


(AMUSE C) $16.00
