As NAIT continues to grow its student body and lead the way in hands on learning, we are recruiting skilled and passionate individuals to help support current and future industry professionals and become an art of Canada’s leading polytechnic. 

Reporting to the Maintenance, Fabrication, and Manufacturing department this position will support the millwright equipment in a variety of programs.  This position will repair and maintenance of a variety of millwright equipment.  The position will also assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing methods and/or ideas for the overall repair, design, fabrication, and maintenance of various equipment, lab equipment, and other teaching aids.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of equipment, manufacture parts, tool maintenance and distribution
  • Shop/lab maintenance
  • Sourcing the department’s consumables and tooling requirements
  • Planning/organizing the repair of program area parts/equipment
  • Planning/organizing shops and creation of jigs, fixtures and teaching aids
  • Planning/organizing the repair of parts/equipment for other NAIT departments as required
  • Create work orders and purchase orders (consumables - tooling)
  • Coordinate/manage program purchasing & receiving
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment problems
  • Assist with lab set up and take down


Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Knowledge of computers
  • Ability to properly and safely use related tools and equipment
  • Ability to determine materials required and calculate estimate costs
  • Physically capable to perform the work functions of this position (ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted)
  • Ability to be flexible with work hours and assignment


Qualifications:

  • Journeyperson Millwright certificate required
  • Several years’ experience related to position assignment
  • Possession of a valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license

Remuneration: $81,854.50 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Machinist II).

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
