Position summay

Reporting to the Team Lead, WISEST, the WISEST Mentorship Coordinator will undertake a diverse range of administrative duties to assist in the coordination, promotion, and delivery of a diverse set of campus-based, outreach educational programs and events related to mentorship of marginalized groups in STEM. The Mentorship Coordinator will be focused on executing project deliverables identified in the “Women’s Economic Recovery Challenge Grant”.


  • Supports the administration and expansion of the mentorship trio program
  • Researchs and determines supports designed to appeal to Indigenous, racialized STEM students and entrepreneurs
  • Designs a series of Virtual mentorship/networking Cafe events 
  • Expands program recognition and credentials to other professional associations
  • Streamlines and formalizes processes to ensure the sustainability of the program once administration returns to a volunteer run steering committee
  • Handles inquiries from program participants, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
  • Implements, collects, and evaluates the program and prepares reports that include information about program participation and recommendations for program modification.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree with a minimum of two years related work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in program management with the ability to be reflective, innovative and creative in program design and delivery 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity 
  • Ability to take initiative, problem-solve and make decisions.
  • Ability to be reflective, innovative and creative in service design and delivery.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to accomplish organizational goals.
  • Ability to communicate concisely in written and verbal forms 
  • Proven multi-tasking, organization and time management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience relating to First Nations, Métis and Inuit culture an asset
  • Experience in experiential learning and/or career education would be an asset 
  • Experience working closely with Indigenous communities is an asset
  • Demonstrated understanding of the cultural knowledge and perspective required to connect with Aboriginal communities, schools and students, plus knowledge of Treaty 6, 7, and 8 communities is an asset
