Job Description

RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
The Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) is a national study of adult development and aging that has recruited 50,000 individuals across Canada. Information is being collected through telephone interviews, in person interviews, and physical assessments.
The Montreal CLSA Data Collection Site is located at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre. We are currently seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse or a Medical Technologist

General Duties
• Welcoming and registering participants,
• Confirming and scheduling appointments,
• Venipuncture to collect blood samples (required),
• Performing tests to assess mobility, balance, grip strength, and cognitive function (training provided),
• Measuring weight, height, blood pressure, carotid intima thickness, lung function, and ECG (training provided),
• Bone density scanning , DXA (training provided),
• Vision and hearing assessments (training provided),
• Performing regular calibration and quality control of equipment,
• Operating and maintaining equipment,
• Complying with quality standards according to standard operating procedures (SOP) and applying practices required by the RI-MUHC for personal safety, safe use of equipment, protection of information, and proper disposal of all waste generated (including biological and reagent waste),
• Reagent and inventory control, data entry and record keeping,
• Performing other related duties requested by their immediate supervisor.


Education / Experience

• DVS in Health, Assistance and Nursing or Biomedical Laboratory Technology,
• Member of the Quebec Order of Licensed Practical Nurses or the Quebec Order of
Professional Medical Technologists),
• Fluency in spoken French and English,
• Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP),
• Available to work at variable times - day, evening, weekend,
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and thoroughness in work, reliability, autonomy,
• Professionalism and respect for confidentiality,
• Ability to work within a team.


Additional information

Status: Part-Time Occasional
Pay Scale: $23,22 to $43,11$/hour
Work Shift: Flexible availability – day, evening, weekend
Work Site: 2155 Guy Street, Montreal
