Job Summary | The Medical Sciences program is a broad, interdisciplinary preparatory program that introduces students to subjects in medicine, science, and arts and social sciences. Reporting to the Assistant Dean, Medical Sciences, the Medical Sciences African Nova Scotian Cohort Advisor will consult, create, and deliver programming to overcome the barriers most often faced by students in the Maritime African Nova Scotian community. |

Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree preferred, and three to five years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Existing relationships and demonstrated ability to work in and with the African Nova Scotian community as well as demonstrated ability to leverage those relationships in a professional context is required. Knowledge of the African Nova Scotian experience, issues, and challenges is required as well as knowledge of current resources available to African Nova Scotian students, and experience in student advising. Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills are required. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management skills along with the ability to problem-solve, take initiative, and meet deadlines is required. |
