DUTIES

Reporting to the Director, Total Rewards, Engagement & Well-Being, this role will be responsible for guiding the development and implementation of strategies and programs related to employee learning and engagement. Your portfolio will include: organizational learning and development, performance management, employment branding and employee engagement. The Manager will work to drive a learning and leadership culture in an effort to continuously improve strategic initiatives and organizational performance.


MAJOR RESPONSILITIES

  • Guides the design and delivery of a learning and development program(s) to address organizational needs and to ensure continued learning and development opportunities for faculty and staff
  • Contributes to the design and delivery of TRU’s leadership development initiatives
  • Executes learning and development strategies through a blend of formal classroom learning, online coaching and on-the-job development
  • Conducts relevant research in the development of curriculum and materials for learning and engagement programs
  • Collaborates with various members of campus to develop/enhance new and existing performance management programs
  • Leads the design and implementation of employee engagement survey(s) 
  • Supports leaders and teams in understanding their employee engagement data and developing and executing action plans to increase or maintain engagement
  • Works in alignment with TRU recruitment functions to define and meet current and future talent acquisition goals
  • Partners with the People & Culture Consulting team to development and implement succession planning and workforce programs to initiate key people strategies
  • Coordinates with department managers/leads to conduct team evaluations upon request and uses the results to help develop and implement suitable tools to enhance team functioning and productivity (eg. Myers-Briggs MBTI)
  • Contributes to the maintenance and growth of change management practices to build resilient teams
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of organizational development programs and resolve identified issues or concerns while measuring impact 
  • Collaborates with members of the Human Resources team to support programs that enhance organizational engagement and effectiveness
  • Promotes a positive work culture; acts as a change leader, and invests in professional development through coaching and performance management
  • Supports TRU’s employment brand, collaborating with Marketing and Communications to position TRU as a destination employer to attract and retain top talent

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational development or in a related field; Master’s Degree preferred 
  • Professional human resources designation desired
  • A minimum of 4 years of strategic HR experience managing broad HR functions – people, engagement, learning, talent and culture, coaching etc
  • Knowledge pertaining to employment branding and positioning
  • Experience implementing leadership development programs
  • Leadership skills with emphasis on systems thinking, communication and change management
  • Experience designing, implementing, and leading organization-wide learning and development initiatives
  • Experience with adult learning principles, instructional design techniques, online learning, assessments, and evaluation methodologies
  • Experience with learning management systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate well with staff at various levels within the organization
  • Project management skills with experience managing large scale organizational-wide projects
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with the persistence to implement best practices
  • Ability to thrive in an environment with shifting priorities and high workload
  • Strong communication, coaching, facilitation, and presentation skills
