Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Systems and Transaction Services in Financial Services, the Finance System Support Manager supports and contributes to the development of the Finance Information System to ensure that it meets the current and future needs of the stakeholders and user community. The position oversees the Finance Help Desk and FIS Security teams. The incumbent provides expertise to the Director, Systems and Transactions Services, in collaboration with the Associate Director, Transaction Services.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage FIS Security and FIS Service Desk teams
  • Oversee the FIS Service Desk Portal
  • Provide guidance and expertise to the Director, Systems and Transaction Service in various strategic University and Financial Services projects (University Expense Management Tool, University Finance ERP, Secretary-General Annual Declaration of Financial Compliance, Internal Audit mandated Automate Payment Request Project, etc.)
  • Participate in the examination and definition of objectives for existing and future Banner/Minerva Finance systems and applications
  • Oversee the development of Finance courses, training materials and documentation. Develop best practices and ensure implementation.
  • Analyse and evaluate complex issues affecting Faculties and Central Administrative Units and provide expert recommendations
  • Liaise across Financial Services, the finance community and IT to implement finance systems/applications and resolve post-implementation issues and find solutions to complex problems.
  • Support Director, Systems and Transaction Service in developing and reviewing Financial Services policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with FIS-Reports to develop new reports that will meet Financial Services’ users and stakeholders with respect to all projects (i.e. the new University Expense Management Tool, the new finance ERP, etc.)
  • Participate and/or lead change management initiatives and manage communications within  Financial Services and the finance community.
  • Plan and lead UAT Testing and develop test strategies in collaboration with FIS IT Portfolio Manager and the Project Management Office.
  • In collaboration with IT, assess new EMT features and perform configuration changes as required (Policies’ updates, FIS system and Service Provider upgrades).


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of McGill University’s financial and administrative systems would be an asset
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Demonstrated effective communication, writing, planning and coordination skills. Self-motivated, autonomous and ability to work well with multiple teams
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple initiatives and to manage deadlines.
  • English spoken and written. French spoken and read.


Minimum Education and Experience:


Bachelor's Degree 5 Years Related Experience /


Annual Salary:


(MPEX Grade 07) $82,150.00 - $102,690.00 - $123,230.00
