Job Description

The Manager, Adjudication plays a key role in the implementation and management of the university’s admissions policies and practices, protecting academic integrity and supporting the University’s strategic enrolment strategy.

The manager continually improves the university’s systemic approach to the application of admissions criteria across all academic levels and the evaluation of applications and application materials.

The manager continually improves the university’s systemic approach to the application and evaluation of admissions criteria across all academic levels. They lead a high performing team responsible for the adjudication of domestic and international applications for admissions into Royal Roads University programs, cultivating a positive, productive work environment. As part of the admission process, the manager also oversees the evaluation of both internal and external, domestic and international credentials and language proficiency testing against Royal Roads admission requirements.

The manager collaborates with the Manager, Applications and Systems Support to support applicant-to-student conversion rates that sustain the university’s longstanding and continuing goal of recruitment at all academic levels. The manager also maintains strong relationships with faculty and staff in program offices and with Registrar’s Office staff to meet the specific needs of the university’s academic programs and to facilitate seamless transitions along the ‘admit to student’ continuum.


Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred), plus a minimum of seven years of experience in a post-secondary admissions office working with Canadian and international admissions, serving at least two years in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to exercise independent judgment in complex, dynamic situations, considering the university’s enrolment goals, academic standards, reputation, legal implications, and precedence
  • Demonstrated innovative and highly developed problem-solving skills with an ability and desire to approach challenging situations creatively and energetically  
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct evaluation of international credentials and/or comparabilties, and a proven understanding of evaluation theories and principles
  • Highly developed knowledge of Canadian provincial and international systems of education and best practices in both Canadian and international admissions
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) including ability to communicate effectively with university staff at all levels, as well as externally with university partners, agents, and Canadian and international post-secondary institutions
  • Highly developed awareness of diverse cultural backgrounds and protocol, and a demonstrated ability to communicate in a cross-cultural working environment
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a team approach, within admissions and within the ‘student recruitment-prospect management-admissions’ functional team as well as with all internal university partners, aimed at accomplishing the university’s goals and to positively influence people using consultative, consensus-building techniques
  • Technically proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products and a solid understanding of a student information system (preferably Agresso Student World or U4SM)
  • Proficiency in one or more languages other than English is an asset

Additional Information
This is a regular, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. This position has been evaluated at MPT-D with a salary range of $84,423 (minimum) to $99,223 (midpoint) to $114,023 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
