NAIT’s Souch Campus Technician Centre is currently recruiting for the position of Maintenance Service Worker. This position would report directly to the Technician Supervisor.  The service worker will assist in maintaining 9 shops throughout the campus as well as with stocking and maintaining 2 tool cribs, a supply area and a yard. This position is located at Souch Campus, 7110 Gateway Blvd.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Duties will include but not limited to material handling and distribution, stocking inventory such as welding electrodes, welding wire, tig rod, safety supplies, and various consumables for the different programs
  • Steel prepping, consisting of bringing into the shop lengths of steel and cutting the steel into various coupon sizes and stacking into steel bins or placing onto shelves
  • Operating various equipment, forklifts, overhead cranes, metal band saws, ironworkers, oxy/fuel cutting
  • Bringing in, setting up and removing various teaching aides for the different programs

 

Skills/Abilities:

The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently or in a team setting.  Also, must posses’ strength, stamina, and mobility to perform heavy physical work.

 

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 (or equivalent)
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta drivers license
  • Mechanical aptitude and skills an asset
  • Experience with steel fabrication, Ironworker and Welding hand tools and equipment would be an asset
  • Expected to obtain relevant training in forklift, overhead crane, fall protection, EWP, First Aid, Safety & Respectful Workplace.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs regularly
  • Forklift certification is an asset.
  • Equivalencies may be considered

 

Remuneration: $23.98 - $29.02 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of stat holiday and vacation pay. (Classification – Maintenance Service Worker II).   

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
