This position has a term from April 24, 2023 - August 31, 2023.  The hours of work are 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday.

Position summary

Under the supervision of the Facilities Services Maintenance Foreman, the Maintenance Assistant performs a wide variety of repair tasks in and around the student residence buildings and related outside areas.

Duties

• Performs minor carpentry repairs to fences, steps and wood railings
• Performs minor plumbing duties
• Cleans furnace filters and motors
• Makes minor flooring repairs to carpets, tiles, windows and weather stripping
• Carries out preventative general maintenance duties and records completion dates as directed by the Foreman
• Performs other related maintenance work as required

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma
• Similar work experience and mechanical aptitude is considered an asset
• Self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision
• University of Alberta students are encouraged to apply
