Library Assistant PL3 (Technical Services & Circulation)

Reporting to the Technical Services Librarian, this position is responsible for performing library assistant duties in the Law Library, including end-processing of materials, catalogue maintenance, print reserve collection maintenance, and checking-in and processing of serial government documents. Reporting to the Library Assistant for Circulation & Serials Management, this position shares responsibility for staffing the circulation desk, and is responsible for opening and closing the Law Library and supervising student employees on evenings and weekends.



WHAT YOU BRING:

  • University Degree in a related field is desirable. Completion of Library Assistant or Library Technician program is considered an asset.
  • Three (3) years of related experience including end processing and catalogue maintenance. Previous library work is considered an asset.


Additional Strengths

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft O365, including Outlook and Word.
  • Knowledge of OCLC's WorldShare and WorldCat Discovery.
  • Flexibility and punctuality.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.

Housed within the Faculty of Law and reporting to the Dean of Law, the Gérard V. La Forest Law Library is the largest law library in New Brunswick. It serves the faculty, students, and staff of the Faculty of Law, the wider UNB community, as well as the legal profession and the judiciary in the province.

This position is part of the UNIFOR, Local 4504 employee group and falls under the SALAC Collective Agreement.
