Work environment
*** VIRTUAL WORK : This position is located in Gatineau, Quebec and requires an on-site presence. This selection process may be used to staff other positions that may provide flexibility by offering employees the opportunity to work remotely (virtually) from anywhere in Canada. Therefore, interested candidates are encouraged to apply, regardless of where they live or work.
Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to staff one position on a permanent basis.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff identical or similar positions within Library and Archives Canada using various languages requirements (English or French Essential, Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB) and/or various tenures (Acting, Assignment, Secondment, Deployment, Indeterminate, Specific period) according to the positions being staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
EDUCATION :
A Master’s degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science from a recognized university, or graduation from a recognized university with a Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science for which another Bachelor’s degree was a prerequisite.

EXPERIENCE :
Experience in conducting research and analysis in support of one or more library functions.

Knowledge of trends in the cultural heritage organizations.
Knowledge of cataloguing and/or acquisitions practices.

ASSET EXPERIENCE:
Experience in bibliographic description, subject analysis and/or classification using an integrated library system.
Experience acquiring publications in a variety of formats using an integrated library system.
Experience with library standards such as Resource Description and Access (RDA), MARC21, Library of Congress Subject Headings, Répertoire de vedettes-matière and/or Canadian Subject Headings.
Experience with metadata standards and the creation and use of metadata in the management of cultural collections.
Experience reading Western classical music notation, possibly gained from university or college studies in music and/or music conservatory certification at level (grade) 6 or above.
Experience speaking or reading a language other than English or French.
