Lecturer in Civil Engineering 


The School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia's Okanagan campus invites applications for a full time Lecturer position in its Civil Engineering Program. The initial appointment will be for a one-year term with the potential of renewal subject to demonstrated excellence in teaching. The School welcomes applicants with expertise spanning civil engineering, which may include (but is not limited to) areas of design of water and wastewater conveyance systems, engineering hydrology, open channel flow, engineering analysis, and/or construction management. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024, or soon thereafter 


Decisions for hiring will be based upon each applicant's potential to excel in their teaching and service responsibilities, as well as their fit to the Civil Engineering Program. The program integrates foundational and applied courses in civil engineering with hands-on learning and immersive experiences for students. Eligibility and duties 


Applicants must hold a master's or doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in a field related to civil engineering and either be registered or be eligible to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (https://www.egbc.ca ). Applicants should also have excellent communication skills, a working knowledge of modern teaching methods and supporting tools, and a proven record of (or potential towards) excellence in teaching. Applicant will be assessed on their abilities towards effective teaching and their willingness for service. The successful applicant will be expected to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and to provide service to the School, University, and greater community.

The salary range is $85,000 - $100,000/year, depending upon the applicant's experience and qualifications.
