Description:

We are recruiting a full-time diagnostic neuroradiologist to join the Division of Neuroradiology at the Toronto Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI) and the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. JDMI is the medical imaging department of the University Health Network (Toronto Western Hospital, Toronto General Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre), Sinai Health, and Women’s College Hospital. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024, or as mutually agreed.

The JDMI Division of Neuroradiology has 17 academic neuroradiologists and 8 neuroradiology fellows supporting one of the largest clinical and research centres for neurological disease and head and neck cancer in North America. There are 3 emergency departments, a comprehensive stroke centre, and well-established subspecialty programs in neurovascular, neuro-oncology, functional neurosurgery, epilepsy, movement disorders, neurodegenerative disease, skull base, spine, and head and neck cancer. The Division is affiliated with the Krembil Brain Institute for research, the Techna hub for device/software development, and the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Research Institute. Nearby are the Vector Institute for AI research and the main campus of the University of Toronto.

JDMI has state-of-the-art facilities with 17 CT and 14 MR scanners (including research scanners, 3T PRISMA, PET-MR) equipped with the latest technology. The Division of Neuroradiology has a rich tradition of translational research in neurovascular imaging (pioneering work in MR angiography, MR mapping of cerebrovascular reserve, vessel wall MR, high-resolution imaging of microvascular disease), MR and myelography of CSF disorders, and recent growth in advanced tumor imaging and collaboration on MR-guided focused ultrasound treatment.

The Division values clinical excellence and considers integrity and empathy part of the core competences of a good physician. We seek a candidate to become part of a team of like-minded colleagues who believe patients are best cared for by professionals working in a cooperative environment toward the shared goal of outstanding care.

Candidates must hold an MD degree or equivalent, must hold certification in Radiology with the Royal Collge of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, American Board of Radiology, or international equivalent, and must be licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Candidates should have a minimum of two years of neuroradiology fellowship training (or one year and a year of neuroradiology practice). Dedicated training in head and neck imaging would be considered a plus as we are considering more than one hire at this time. Expertise in advanced CT (spectral/dual energy, AI/dose reduction, photon counting), brain PET, pituitary/skull base imaging, AI/workflow automation, or epidemiology would complement existing strengths in the Division, but we are open to considering candidates with other areas of interest. The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer/Assistant/Associate/Full Professor at the University of Toronto. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Compensation will be in accordance with the uniform average salary of a Radiologist (in the range of $300,000 - $450,000) in the Province of Ontario. Details pertaining to compensation for out-of-hours work to be discussed individually.

Qualified candidates should send a cover letter, curriculum vitae and a minimum of three letters of reference to Dr. Heidi Schmidt, Radiologist-in-Chief, JDMI (Sinai Health, University Health Network and Women's College Hospital), c/o Sylvia Aceti at 585 University Avenue, PMB 1-284, Toronto, Ontario, Canada M5G 2N2, or by email to [email protected] . The position will remain open until filled.
