Summary:

Work in concert with Change Management, IT Communications, and other project stakeholders, to assess, identify needs, and recommend training and delivery methods to improve overall productivity of the McGill community regarding IT related training and workshops.  Provide IT training workshops for various user groups, instructors, staff, and students in a university environment. Lead in design, development and updating appropriate IT training materials in the context of a collaborative team environment. Lead training participation in IT project implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•     Lead in design, development and updating appropriate IT training materials (instructor-led, online) in the context of a collaborative team environment.

•     Design and develop multimedia training materials in a variety of formats, including computer based, web based and mobile training, and virtual classrooms. Blend traditional learning approaches with existing and new technologies to create and deliver top-quality learning programs.

•     Participate in establishing the requirements and design criteria to meet online training needs.

•     Construct engaging instructional multimedia integrating animation, simulation, audio, and text.

•     Work effectively at all levels of the organization with trainers, software developers, technical writers, subject matter experts and other stakeholders to ensure high quality and timely products

•     Provide IT training workshops for various user groups, instructors, staff, and students in a university environment

•     Write user documentation and related material.

•     Assist in promoting, scheduling, and administering workshops.

•     Respond as second tier IT functional and technical support.

•     Aim for continuous self-improvement; analyze user evaluations and feedback in order to offer timely improvements to training content and delivery

•     Engage in user follow-up activities to ensure training effectiveness

•     Continually enhance the online and classroom learning experience, to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

•     Lead training participation in complex IT project implementations

Requirements

Education:  Undergraduate Degree

Experience:  Three (3) years’ related experience

Skills & Expertise:

  • Working knowledge of an LMS environment (D2L preferred), McGill Web management system; Collaboration tools; Content management systems (D2), Enterprise Resource Planning system ERP (Banner); Computing Safety, etc. 
  • Ability to update and deliver professional materials using a range of standard desktop software packages; Adobe creative tools (PhotoShop, Captivate,), MS-Office suite, digital audio recording (Audacity, Audition, other).
  • Ability to develop strategies, estimate, plan and develop training content creation and delivery
  • Ability to use software and recommend instructional strategies inside and outside the classroom. Familiarity with programming languages an asset; (HTML5, PHP/MySQL).
  • Effective skills in training instructors, staff and students in a university environment
  • Ability to create assessments, assess and analyse user feedback and evaluation results in order to elevate IT training standards and contribute to both your own and the team’s growth.
  • Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing

Annual Salary:


(MPEX Grade 04) $58,470.00 - $73,090.00 - $87,710.00
