Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, International Education Centre, the International Experience Special Projects Coordinator will advance the International Education Centre’s (IEC) mission, as an innovative, collaborative and globally significant leader in the internationalization of the student experience.

The International Experience Special Projects Coordinator will take primary responsibly for the development and implementation of key initiatives that support the internationalization of the student experience at UTM. The Special Projects Coordinator will achieve this by working collaboratively with various stakeholders implementing plans and process improvements for key projects including global learning initiatives as well as innovative supports that enhance the international student experience.

The Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting and advancing the work of the IEC, inorder to provide coordinated and meaningful support to international and globally-minded students at UTM.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming
  • Liaising with internal contacts to ensure consistent administration of embedded student support services
  • Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
  • Advising students on co-curricular, academic and personal matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background
  • Handling expenses for events
  • Directing the activities of casual staff
  • Tracking and monitoring information that affects the safety and security of others travelling abroad
  • Implementing plans and process improvements for project activities

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Humanities, Social Sciences, Science or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Training in Project Management is required.
  • Minimum three (3) years related experience, with demonstrated experience working with diverse communities implementing project plans.
  • Experience working directly with a variety of local and international stakeholders including not-for-profit agencies, non-governmental organizations, and international partners, is required.
  • Experience advising students on academic related travel at the post secondary level.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills directing and supporting student staff or equivalent groups.
  • Exceptional intercultural competency awareness.
  • Proven relationship management skills with multiple stakeholder groups including student, staff and faculty.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing plans and process improvements for project activities.
  • Proven abilities in financial management and budgeting.
  • Strong assessment (quantitative and qualitative) skills, including program evaluation and performance assessments.
  • Thorough knowledge of the University’s procedures as they relate to the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act (FIPPA) and management of confidential student information.

This role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the University of Toronto’s Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline .
