The School of Public Policy and Administration (SPPA) at Carleton University invites applications for a 12- month limited-term appointment at the rank of Instructor with teaching expertise in economics and public policy, effective 1 July 2022. The courses to be taught include statistics for public policy, macroeconomics for public policy, and energy evaluation and assessment tools. Experience in teaching any of these courses would be an asset.

The School’s teaching load at the Instructor level is three courses per term for a total of six courses per year.


About the School of Public Policy and Administration

The research-intensive School , which is situated in a unique Faculty of Public Affairs , is a recognized centre of academic excellence in public policy and administration. It is the largest and oldest school of its kind in Canada and is well known internationally, offering a PhD in Public Policy, Master of Public Policy and Administration, Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, a joint MA Sustainable Energy, the graduate Diploma in Public Policy and Program Evaluation, and the graduate Diploma in Indigenous Policy and Administration. The School’s multidisciplinary faculty members are actively engaged in diverse research and teaching initiatives, and are regularly called upon for their expertise by government departments, NGOs, and international agencies. Qualifications

Candidates must have earned a PhD degree in economics by date of appointment or shortly thereafter, with a clearly demonstrated record of excellence in teaching. Following recent practice, the hire will create and oversee classrooms in which issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion are addressed in their courses.

  • a teaching portfolio with a statement of teaching philosophy, evidence of effectiveness, and a statement on addressing equity, diversity, and inclusion, and
  • one or more research papers or publications.
