The School of Health and Public Safety at SAIT prepares students for a dynamic career in the health care sector. We offer specialized training in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, professional assistant programs, information management, and training for wellness professionals. Our programs are hands on, with students and instructors immersed in living classrooms and simulated training. 
The Opportunity
Diagnostic Imaging within the School of Health and Public safety requires an energetic and resourceful individual with great organizational skills to facilitate instruction within the Nuclear Medicine Technology Program.
Reporting to the Academic Chair, Diagnostic Imaging, you have a passion for teaching diverse students, thrive in sharing knowledge and enjoy coaching students to succeed and think critically. You will be responsible for integrating innovative strategies in applied learning, including the use of digital technologies. You bring your passion for nuclear medicine and applied education along with experience with mentoring, teaching and talent development. You possess a sound understanding of emerging topics, issues, and applications in the field of nuclear medicine technology. You are a highly collaborative individual with strong communication skills (both verbal and written), and you have comprehensive expertise and a successful track record in industry and/or the post-secondary sector. 
The faculty member is expected to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a student-centered learning environment which is pedagogically sound, technically supported and innovative in nature.
The Role
    • Facilitate and supervise students’ learning in classes, laboratories, simulation, and practicum through effective action-based lessons, activities and assessments in a dynamic, inclusive learning environment
    • Prepare laboratory preps and supply lists for Educational Technologists
    • Evaluate student progress and achievement providing timely formative feedback
    • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners to facilitate student achievement
    • Manage class and laboratory environments to ensure a safe, healthy and positive student learning experience
    • Maintain records for the purposes of grading and tracking attendance in all classes
    • Ensure grades for each course are submitted in a timely fashion according to SAIT policy/procedures
    • Continuously update course curriculum to ensure relevancy and currency and to reflect best practices in learning design
    • Promote professionalism and coach students 
    • Be an active and engaged member of the School and contribute in a positive way to maintain a “team environment”
    • Support course and program quality improvement projects 
    • Promote and support SAIT’s, the School of Health and Public Safety’s, and the program’s strategic, academic, and business plans and activities
    • Remain current in field and stay abreast of emerging pedagogical issues and educational technologies
    • Attend program, department and institutional meetings and SAIT’s instructor training program
    • Adhere to safety legislation and SAIT Policies and Procedures
    • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience
    • Must have current CAMRT certification and be a registered Medical Radiation Technologist, Nuclear Medicine specialty with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT), or eligible for registration
    • Minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
    • Previous teaching experience in adult education is an asset as are additional educational qualifications

    • In addition to the above we are looking for instructors with the following skills and attributes:
    • Experience in current technologies, which may include computed tomography (CT) or positron emission tomography (PET)

    • NOTE: The successful candidate will be required to provide a security clearance/police information check prior to commencement of employment.

Salary range: $73,000 - $104,000
