The School of Computer Science invites applications from qualified candidates for a one-year term appointment in Computer Science at the rank of Instructor, beginning July 1, 2022.

The primary duty of this position is to teach six undergraduate courses, three in the fall term and three in the winter.

We encourage applications from candidates from groups underrepresented in Computer Science and/or with experience in mentoring students from such groups.


About the Academic Unit

The School has 40 full-time faculty members and particular research strengths in computational geometry, computer security, big data analytics, databases and information systems, graphics, HCI, high- performance computing, machine learning, networks and distributed computing. The School offers a Bachelor of Computer Science degree and graduate programs at the Master’s and Ph.D. levels. Qualifications

The successful candidate will have an interest in pursuing a career in teaching and will have a background demonstrating strong teaching potential and a commitment to teaching excellence. A PhD in computer science is required, with specialization in an applied subfield of computer science. The candidate should have a high level of confidence and expertise for teaching undergraduate applied computer science, and a strong background related to teaching object-oriented programming and web development. The successful candidate will need to be able to begin teaching programming, systems programming, and web applications courses with little preparation time.
