The Opportunity
Join one of SAIT’s most dynamic and diversified academic departments.  The School of Hospitality & Tourism is a group of passionate people training learners in a range of programs including Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, Travel and Tourism, Baking and Pastry Arts and Butchery and Charcuterie Management. 
This temporary salaried instructor position requires a dynamic, multi-skilled person to Instruct Culinary Students in our Culinary Arts CULA, Cook Apprentice ACKP or our Culinary course in the HMT or Evening Classes. The position requires a person with extensive knowledge in culinary techniques that is used to working in higher end establishments. The ability to supervise and instruct students in methodology and equipment usage is the prime objective. The Role
    • Preparing and presenting lectures and labs
    • Evaluating student progress and facilitating student achievement
    • Preparing additional study materials for learners
    • Providing ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
    • Liaising with relevant industry sectors    
    • Monitor and maintain food costs according to guidelines 

Qualifications
    • Minimum:
    • Must have a proven skill in professional kitchen management and supervision and possess a Red Seal or equivalent
    • A minimum of 7 years related industry experience
    • Expert knowledge of all cooking methods and styles practiced in leading food service establishments
    • Clear and concise understanding of safe and hygienic food handling practices
    • Sound skills in classical and contemporary plate presentation as well as cold and hot food production
    • Computer literate/online delivery
    • Exemplary organizational skills

    • Preferred:
    • Competition experience preferred
    • Previous experience instructing in post-secondary an asset
