The MacPhail School of Energy is the only energy school in Canada, and we are charting a new course with a focus on sustainable energy sources and practices. MacPhail School of Energy provides hands-on, industry-guided training in labs that mimic job site environments, giving students the skills needed to find a rewarding career in the energy sector.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Academic Chair of Petroleum Portfolio, we are recruiting an engaging instructor to teach Reservoir 412. The instructor will initially be focused on on-campus synchronous course delivery for this winter semester.  
Topics to be taught include:
1. Fundamentals of rock and fluid properties
2. Phase diagrams and Pressure Volume Temperature
3. Volumetrics and reserves
4. Gas laws 
5. Gas material balance
6. Oil material balance
7. Fluids flow and Darcy’s Law
8. Decline Curve Analyses
9. Fundamental of well test analyses (Pressure Transient Analysis, Rate Transient Analysis)
10. Waterflooding analysis
The Role
    • Develop application-based learning materials and assessments
    • Prepare and evaluate lessons, lectures, and assignments
    • Show personal interest in the learner outcome and create a climate conducive to optimal learning
    • Setup in developing or updating evaluation mechanisms that track and evaluate student progress and facilitate student achievement
    • Participate in team meetings and program events

Qualifications & Experience
    • Petroleum engineering background with primary expertise in reservoir (and production) engineering
    • Previous teaching experience is an asset, but not required
    • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

    • Innovative mindset and desire to make long-term lasting improvements
    • Ability to take a firm stand on important issues, yet be empathetic to the needs of students and the work team

    • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills

Hourly range: $45.55 - $53.19
