The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting a faculty member to provide academic leadership and instruction to Architectural Technologies students to ensure they achieve established learning outcomes.
Reporting to the Academic Chair, you will create a technically supported and innovative learning environment. Additionally, you will use current information and communication technology in the development and delivery of course content.

The Role
    • Instruct high-level architectural technology courses to a wide and varied student body of learners
    • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students
    • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and advice to learners
    • Evaluate student progress and achievement
    • Actively seek opportunities to integrate learners with industry
    • Maintain awareness of industry trends, issues, and opportunities
    • Pursue ongoing professional development
    • Engage in Develop course outlines, profiles, and curriculum
    • Participate in curriculum development and program reviews
    • Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners
    • Maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors

Qualifications & Experience
    • A minimum of a degree or diploma in Architectural Technologies from a recognized college/university
    • 5+ years experience in Architectural industry, will consider engineering or virtual design construction
    • Intermediate proficiency in the BIM workflow process
    • Intermediate proficiency in Autodesk Revit
    • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam
    • Some proficiency in AutoCAD is an asset
    • Proficiency in software that aids in driving Data-driven design would be considered an asset such as Dynamo, Grasshopper and Python

Skills & Knowledge
    • Demonstrate understanding of construction materials and technical assemblies
    • Expert knowledge and experience with the Alberta Building Code / National Building Code
    • Knowledgeable of various construction contract types
    • Strong conceptual and design skills
    • Competency with City requirements for DP and BP submissions 
    • Solid understanding of project production cycles and construction detailing for variety of building systems and types
    • Demonstrate understanding of construction materials and technical assemblies
    • Possess excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills and able to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders
    • The leadership approach is rooted in empathy, mentorship, and conviction
    • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to adapt to new and changing priorities
    • Innate belief in the power and importance of collaboration
    • Creative and strategic thinker with sound judgement
    • Be self-directed and capable of managing multiple deadlines using organizational, time and priority management skills
