Academic Services provides unique and flexible support programming designed to help learners succeed in their chosen SAIT career program.
 
We are seeking an experienced Instructor with outstanding teaching contributions, a collaborative team member, and a student-centered attitude. Reporting to the Academic Chair in Academic Upgrading, you will be responsible for teaching CHEM 181, Chemistry 1 during the Spring/Summer 2024 term. This course is considered equivalent to Alberta Education’s Chemistry 20.

Course: CHEM 181, Chemistry 1
Program Term: 6 May – 16 August 2024
Course Dates/Times: Mondays 11-12.50 PM, Wednesday 10-11.50 AM, Thursday 2-3.50 PM
The Role
    • Deliver engaging courses in an applied educational setting.
    • Develop application-based learning materials and assessments tailored to students' areas of specialty.
    • Evaluate students' progress and provide timely, formative feedback.
    • Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners.
    • Provide ongoing academic support, guidance and advice to learners.
    • Familiarize students with available SAIT supports and make referrals as needed.
    • Attend program and course meetings.
    • Participate in SAIT’s instructor training program as required.
    • Collaborate with colleagues, sharing materials and innovative ideas to improve the student experience.
    • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students.

Qualifications & Experience
    • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), or related discipline; a Master’s in Education (M.Ed.) is considered an asset.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ post-secondary teaching experience. Experience teaching high school-level courses is an asset.
    • Intermediate-level proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint).
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
    • Excellent ability to manage and prioritize responsibilities.
    • Familiarization with current Alberta Education practices would be considered an asset.
