Housing Worker Assistant

This position is a part of the Non-Academic Staff Association (NASA).

This position has a term from April 29, 2024 - August 31, 2024.  The hours of work are 8:00 am – 3:30 pm.  Housekeeping operates 7 days a week, weekend work will be required.

Location - Work takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

Working for Facilities Services

Facilities Services is accountable to ensure planning and resourcing for the delivery of maintenance, custodial and inspection services to Campus Services’ physical assets, comprising approximately 60 buildings with a total area in excess of 160,000 square meters.

Position Summary

Assist the Full Time Housing Workers with deep cleaning of dorm style units, communal washrooms, lounges, kitchens, laundry rooms, stairwells, entrances, etc. Provide Hotel/Motel Service during the Conference Spring/Summer Season which includes, linen services, cleaning of common areas, clean and reset after check out. 

Duties

• Provides cleaning and maintenance to hard floor and carpeted surfaces 
• Vacuums and cleans all surfaces of hallways, stairwells, lounges, walls, furniture, etc.
• Clean and sanitize washrooms, common areas, kitchens, appliances, etc…
• Cleans vacated student residence rooms as required 
• Provides hotel/motel service during the Spring/Summer Season; which includes guest suites, dorm rooms on a daily basis, supplying linens and amenities.

Qualifications      

• Minimum High School Diploma
• Similar work experience and mechanical aptitude is considered an asset
• Self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision
• University of Alberta students are encouraged to apply
