Position 

Reporting to the Guest Experience Manager, the Guest Experience Lead: Field Trips (GEL) is one of the primary guest-facing team members at the University of Alberta Botanic Garden. The GEL delivers exceptional guest experiences and ensures guests and clients have memorable experiences at the Gaden.  The Guest Experience unit encompasses our day-to-day gate visitor activities, bookings for our facilities, special events such as our Picnic offering, and the field trip program.  The GEL will be responsible for ensuring an exceptional field trip program as well as supporting the oversight of daily operational functions of the Guest Experience unit and providing leadership and guidance to the Guest Experience Representative 1 & 2 team members.

Duties 

  • Primary role of leading field trips and training other GERs to lead field trips;
  • Respond to requests, inquiries, and complaints in the education, volunteer, and general email inboxs and phone lines.
  • Daily Operational leadership tasks including hiring, staff training, scheduling, and assigning daily tasks to the Guest Experience Representatives for field trips and programming.
  • Respond to queries and provide guests with information on Garden activities and events;
  • Demonstrates superior customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations and complaints to ensure excellence in guest care.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Experience teaching and/or working with children
  • Experience and comfort with public speaking
  • Computer experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years in a degree of science, environment or education is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of nature and the environment is considered an asset.
  • IntelliLeisure knowledge an asset;
  • Experience and understanding of Google Suite an asset;
  • Standard First Aid (within 3 years) and CPR C Certification (within 1 year) an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence is an asset.
