Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Student Experience, you will be responsible for the administration and coordination of financial aid and award activities in the Registrar's Office and Student Experience (ROSE). You will provide students with information and advice relating to financial aid and awards issues; administer all aspects of OISE's bursary program; conduct one-on-one interviews with students, prepare decision letters, process payments and maintain audit records.


In this role, you will coordinate internal OISE awards which are open to the general OISE student population and provide administrative support to academic departments in the operation of departmental/program specific awards.
You will be the first point of contact for prospective and current students regarding potential sources of financial aid and provide advice in order to improve student retention and the student experience. You will also develop and conduct presentations/workshops for current and prospective students highlighting financial aid services and award criteria.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising students on financial aid/award matters by probing and providing a range of options and possible outcomes
  • Facilitating and leading financial aid workshops and webinars
  • Interpreting and applying university and government financial aid rules to ensure students meet requirements
  • Reviewing and assessing financial aid applications for acceptability
  • Implementing plans for awards programs and related objectives
  • Providing advice to committees regarding financial award recipient selection
  • Checking that applicants meet the requirements outlined in the awards criteria
  • Recording and verifying transactions on a number of award and bursary accounts

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years experience in student or financial aid services within a post-secondary institution
  • Experience advising students concerning their financial concerns and/or funding and in developing the ability to continue their studies when facing financial difficulties
  • Experience in developing and conducting workshops
  • Experience using ROSI or similar online student information system
  • Excellent computer skills, including the MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated presentation skills

USW Pay Band 12 -- $78,308 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $100,144. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
