Job Summary
The Registrar’s Office (RO) is a large, multi-site operation involved in the entire academic experience of Dalhousie students, from recruitment and admissions through to convocation and beyond. Reporting to the Director, People, Finance and Operations, the incumbent is responsible for taking a leadership role in the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of the budgets, and accounting and financial functions, for the RO and its units. The incumbent is also responsible for providing confidential executive-level support, and management of the RO space and its operational processes and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
  • Research and assemble relevant budget information to assist the Director, People, Finance and Operations in annual budget submission and for mid-year and third quarter reviews, providing cost projections.
  • Create and execute internal accounting systems for audit trail, financial review, and budgeting considerations.
  • Identify and report major budget variances to Director, People, Finance and Operations, recommending action as required to solve issues.
  • Consult, advise and direct in matters concerning University policies and procedures on financially related topics; problem-solving situations in relation to these policies with authority to enforce adherence to policies.
  • Provide exceptional executive-level support and office management through intentional planning, organizing and execution of operations to ensure the highest level of efficiency.
  • Management of digital collaboration environment and hybrid working spaces for 4 RO locations.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s level degree, plus a minimum of three to five years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Demonstrated experience in financial processes, budget monitoring/analysis and document management.
  • Proficiency with MS Office with advanced Excel experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and act appropriately.
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with confidential, sensitive information.
  • Strong organizational skills, exceptional communication, and interpersonal skills.
