Position Summary:

Research plot maintenance including soil tillage, seeding, grass trimming, rock picking, basic technical assistance to research projects, basic machinery maintenance, written reports on activities. Any other duties required by Chief Agronomy Technician.

Macdonald Campus Farm – The Emile A. Lods Agronomy Research Centre

Emile A. Lods Agronomy Research Centre , commonly referred to as the Seed Farm, is a research farm consisting of 28 hectares of diverse soil series and textures. The Centre’s raison d’être is to provide support for agronomy research as well as undergraduate teaching for the Departments of Bioresource Engineering, Plant Science, Natural Resource Sciences and Farm Management Technology. There are more than 70 different experiments conducted at the Centre including cultivar, soil fertility and forage schedule cutting trials as well as plant responses to climatic and pest stress. 

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

Proven ability to operate a farm tractor.  Candidate must have a valid pesticide application certificate for the duration of the contract. Attention to details and accuracy. Able to work in a safe manner. Ask questions if unsure about procedures. Understand demands from researchers. Able to work outside during hot and humid conditions. Bilingual (French/English) in speech, reading and writing.


Minimum Education and Experience:


High School Diploma 2 Years Related Experience


Hourly Salary:


(AMUSE C) $19.00
