About us:

The Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation (CTSI) provides leadership in teaching and learning at the University of Toronto and serves as the University’s central teaching “hub”. In a dynamic and highly collaborative environment, CTSI provides support for pedagogy and pedagogy-driven instructional technology for all teaching staff and teaching assistants across the University’s campuses and divisions. Its services include organizing special events and programming for instructors and teaching assistants related to a range of teaching topics, including educational technologies; conducting personalized and confidential consultations; offering job training and a certificate program for teaching assistants; supporting inquiry into teaching through the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning; providing pedagogical guidance for the use of the institutional learning management system (Quercus); and supporting the institutional online course evaluation system. Driven by the latest advancements in higher education practices and informed by emerging research in post-secondary teaching and learning, CTSI staff work directly with faculty, graduate students, departments and divisions and in partnership with a range of University offices to enhance teaching and learning across the institution.

Your opportunity:

Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Teaching, Learning & Technology, the Faculty Liaison CoordinatorIII provides a range of services to support the activities of the Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation (CTSI) and the Academic, Research & Collaborative (ARC) technologies group. The Faculty Liaison Coordinator III leads the development of educational programs and resources that have an impact across the entire University, from individual instructors to educational technology support teams working in faculties. The successful candidate will leverage their ability to work collaboratively with multipleacademic and technical disciplines to integrate diverse perspectives and evidence bases on effective and inclusive pedagogy. This role is essential to CTSI’s mission of supporting principles of inclusivity, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) through the lens of technology-enhanced education, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The Faculty Liaison Coordinator III also works closely and collaboratively with a team of Faculty Liaisons in CTSI as well as other CTSI and ARC staff to identify shared priorities, coordinate resources, and monitor impact. This role provides direct consultation services to faculty who are seeking to implement best-practices in technology-enhanced education, including guidance on instructional design strategies and the most effective use of educational technology in both synchronous and asynchronous settings. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing components of instructional programs
  • Developing instructional design plans for use in teaching contexts involving educational technologies
  • Fostering and maintaining internal and external networks to build capacity and collaboration
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for assigned projects
  • Advising instructors on strategies for developing and delivering curriculum, including alignment with principles of authentic assessment
  • Analyzing needs and recommending appropriate technologies for teaching/learning goals
  • Developing and facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Collecting data to identify future academic programming needs and key areas of interest

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience developing and delivering pedagogical programming for faculty and staff, and experience providing consultations to faculty/staff on teaching and learning-related topics with a focus on educational technologies.
  • Extensive experience coordinating the development of projects with multiple contributors and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in the use of learning management systems (LMSs) and other educational technologies
  • Expertise in instructional design principles and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
  • Extensive experience supporting video conferencing in a teaching context.
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills, communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and familiarity with various educational technologies and pedagogical approaches.
  • Excellent group facilitation skills.
  • Superior proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Suite, including Excel, Forms, Stream, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Extensive experience supporting video conferencing in a teaching context.


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Familiarity with the University of Toronto and knowledge of UofT policies and procedures that impact teaching and learning support a strong asset.
  • Experience with Canvasadministrative features a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and accessibility standards for digital content (e.g., WCAG) a strong asset.
  • Strong proficiency supporting the use of generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) in a teaching and learning context a strong asset.
  • Post-secondary teaching experience is a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) a strong asset.
