Position Description:
The Institute of Islamic Studies at McGill is seeking applications for a non-tenure track, two year limited term Faculty Lectureship in Turkish Language. The appointee will be responsible for the coordination, teaching and implementation of all elements of the Institute of Islamic Studies' Turkish language program. This includes teaching Turkish at all three levels offered to graduate and undergraduate students (6 courses/ year). The Faculty Lecturer also coordinates and manages the program.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Candidates should have native or near-native proficiency in Turkish. They should have experience in, and be familiar with issues involved in, the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language including innovative pedagogical approaches. MA or PhD in a field related to Turkish language or relevant related degree required. Competence in teaching elements of Ottoman Turkish culture/s is not required but will be an advantage. French is an asset.
