Position Description

The School of Physical and Occupational Therapy (SPOT) is seeking applications for a full-time position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Faculty Lecturer (Professional). This will be a 15-month definite term contract. In collaboration with the Physical Therapy Clinical Education team, the candidate will serve as an Associate Clinical Coordinator of the clinical education team, be responsible for coordination and teaching associated with four clinical courses and clinical placement preparatory seminars for students.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in clinical education team meetings, faculty meetings and the National Association for Clinical Education Physiotherapy (NACEP) meetings. They will assist the Physical Therapy Clinical Education team with the following tasks: 

  • Preparing, developing and delivering clinical seminars, workshops and webinars for student and clinical educators;
  • Ensuring that students have required prerequisites prior to starting clinical courses (i.e. : immunization, and First Aid/CPR training, etc.);
  • Recruiting, liaising and supporting approximately 75 clinical placements per clinical course;
  • Providing support to students and clinical educators during clinical placements;
  • Matching students to clinical placements and ensuring clinical education portal validity for site payment reconciliation for designated placement periods;
  • Ensuring that students obtain all clinical education requirements by reviewing student clinical experience documents and by tracking student experiences on a cohort profile tracking spreadsheet;
  • Reviewing student clinical course evaluations in order to assign a letter grade, and identifying evaluations that need to be reviewed by the PT clinical team;
  • Reviewing the SPOT clinical education website for accuracy and identify required updates;
  • Organizing and providing support for out of catchment and/or international placements.

Qualifications and Education requirements

Candidates must:

  • Be a physical therapist holding a Master’s degree or higher;
  • Be a member in good standing of the OPPQ;
  • Be proficient in spoken and written English and French;
  • Be able to communicate effectively with students and clinical educators;
  • Have excellent organizational skills, time management and creative problem solving skills;
  • Have at least 3 years’ experience in student supervision and mentoring in clinical settings;
  • Be able to work well with an inter-professional team;
  • Be knowledgeable of the Quebec health care system;
  • Have competency in Microsoft office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat) and database systems.

Salary: Remuneration will be according to Quebec health care fee schedule
