Offer Description

Join us in pioneering the next frontier of additive manufacturing at PolymerETS! We are seeking a passionate candidate to embark on a groundbreaking journey into the world of fused filament fabrication (FFF) or polyolefin blends.

Subject: Dive deep into the coupling of rheological models with microstructure development of polyolefin blends printed by fused filament fabrication method.

Fused filament fabrication method, a common extrusion-based additive manufacturing technique is revolutionizing industries worldwide by crafting layered objects through heated filament deposition. In addition, it is a technique that can be used to upcycle polymer originated from plastic waste streams. Within these plastic waste streams the polymers that we can find the most are polyolefins which cannot be easily sorted resulting in blends of immiscible polymers. Unfortunately, polyolefins are highly crystalline and they experience volume shrinkage when printed which leads to warpage. Furthermore, due to this crystalline structure the successive layers do not weld well.

So the candidate objective e should be to conquer the hurdles of polyolefin printing, from warpage due to volume shrinkage to welding difficulties, through the development of innovative rheological and thermodynamic models.
