Reporting to the Manager, Employment Services, the Employment Lifecycle Advisors (ELAs) are experienced HR professionals responsible for ensuring all HR/employment transactions covering the life cycle of a University employee from initial appointmentto termination are managed and processed with accuracy. The ELAs are a collaborative team of process experts responsiblefor the administration and application of the employment terms and conditions of all collectiveagreements and are an integral source of support, guidance and assistance to Centres of Expertise (CoEs), HR Service Partners and colleagues in Shared Services.

Duties

  • Provide service and information to the HR Service Partners. 
  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity of HR data and protecting the confidentiality of employee data.
  • Provide guidance, advise, support and resources to process employment transactions /job actions in accordance with the collective agreements, UAPPOL and terms and conditions of employment 
  • Support processing all employee life events: hires, promotions, secondments, transfers, retirements, terminations etc in PeopleSoft HCM
  • Audit and validate all entitlements (NASA bucket hours, recurring terms etc) under each collective agreement for all employee types 
  • Monitor and assist with:
    • Managing probation dates and advising clients on processes for extensions where necessary.
    • Employee Service date validation.
    • Vacation balances. Notifies the area when vacations require management. Coordinates vacation usage-reporting for the area. Reviews reports to identify issues
    • Coordinating performance management and annual merit processes
  • Prepares standard and ad-hoc human resources reports. Runs and completes pre-defined analysis of human resource reports, queries, data and other key HR information
  • Reviews and processes all salary and salary supplement changes
  • Responds to escalated inquiries or cases from the HR Service Center

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of HR related postsecondary diploma or degree preferred, with hands on experience in enterprise management systems such as Peoplesoft
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a unionized human resource setting, preferably in a post-secondary education environment is desirable
  • Comprehensive knowledge of related provincial and Canadian legislation and collective agreements and handbooks
  • Exemplary client service, focused on demonstrating a genuine concern for understanding client needs and meeting or exceeding client expectations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required to share feedback and address concerns respectfully and constructively
  • Cooperative and productive workstyle working with diverse teams and clients to achieve desired results
  • Approaches challenges and opportunities with creative solutions to problems and offers detailed, well-articulated explanations
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, managing time and resources effectively to achieve results and identify critical tasks, effectively focusing on priorities while working within strict deadlines
  • Strong ability to identify innovative approaches to work, adopting a proactive approach to assess needs and challenges and contribute ideas or recommendations as potential opportunities
